New year, new health and safety? Not quite but H&S might seem new to your team after they’ve spent a couple weeks soaking up the end of year break - and who can blame them...
While we all might be physically at work, it’s normal to still be on holiday mentally, which is when H&S can slip by the wayside and mistakes can happen.
That’s why the start of the year is a great opportunity to take stock of your H&S. To get you started, check out ThinkSafe’s top three tips for a safe start to 2021 below.
ThinkSafe’s top three tips for a safe start to 2021
1. Call an all staff or managers health and safety review meeting
Try to get this done ASAP, to reiterate all your H&S processes. If your staff are anything like the ThinkSafe crew, catering helps keep everyone’s attention.
Treat this meeting like a friendly reminder, to ensure everyone starts the year off refocused, with their heads in the game.
2. Take stock of your equipment and ‘tools of the trade’
Are all your ‘tools of the trade’ safe, ready-to-roll and compliant? Safety equipment in stock? Staff kitted out in the right gear? First aid kit, fire extinguisher etc. good-to-go?
January is prime time to get all the above in order before work picks up for the year.
3. Re-examine your work site/s
Whether your business operates out of one or multiple sites, now is an important time to check if any new hazards or risks have arisen that staff need to be made aware of, or that need to be mitigated.
Remember, when you partner with ThinkSafe you partner with people not software, so call us anytime for support or resources.
Happy new year and here’s to a safe and successful 2021.
