There are more health and safety software options in New Zealand than ever. Some are built for construction, some for enterprise, and some are generic global platforms adapted for the NZ market. Choosing the right one depends on what your business actually needs — not what looks best in a demo.
This page helps you compare your options honestly.
What to look for
Before comparing platforms, get clear on what matters:
Does it cover your industry? Some platforms are built exclusively for construction and trades. If you're in manufacturing, agriculture, horticulture, hospitality, logistics, or any other sector, make sure the platform has forms and workflows that match your operations — not just hard hat templates.
What's included in the price? Some platforms charge a base fee and then add per-user, per-site, or per-project costs. Others bundle everything. Compare the total annual cost for your actual team size, not just the headline price.
Do you get advisory support? Software is a tool. When an incident happens, when WorkSafe turns up, when you need to prepare for a pre-qualification audit — do you have access to a qualified health and safety professional? Some platforms include this. Many don't.
Is it aligned with NZ legislation? Global platforms may offer hundreds of templates, but if they're not built around the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and the proposed HSWA Amendment Bill, you're doing extra work to make them fit.
Can it handle critical risk verification? Under the proposed HSWA Amendment Bill, the Act's main purpose would shift to prioritising critical risks. Any platform you choose should be able to demonstrate that your business is identifying and managing its critical risks — not just collecting data.

Choosing with the HSWA Amendment Bill in mind
The HSWA Amendment Bill proposes changing what the law expects of every business in New Zealand. The Act's proposed new main purpose is to prioritise critical risks. When you're choosing a health and safety platform, consider whether it can help you demonstrate that your business is identifying and managing its critical risks — not just collecting data.
